I have personally tested the prototype prior to any use and have found that there was no structural damage to the helmet what so ever. Testing included, multiple simulated high impacts with ; road surfaces, telephone poles, mail boxes, brick buildings, automobiles, and large trees. I have since modified several helmets for personal use and have requests for several more.

Why the Ponytail Helmet was invented ? In 2001 inventor Sheila Shaver wed avid
motorcyclist Paul Shaver . While honeymooning
in Myrtle Beach, SC. , Sheila attempted to wear
her ponytail within her helmet. Within minutes,
the pressure caused great pain and the ponytail
had to be removed.
After returning home, Sheila attempted to
locate a Motorcycle Ponytail Helmet to no avail.
After several weeks of searching and requesting info,
Sheila researched and designed her OWN ponytail
helmet.
When was the Ponytail Helmet invented ?
On August 24, 2004 , Sheila invented the first
prototype and began testing the design for
structural damage and safety.
Upon completion of testing it was determined
safe and maiden ride was in order...
A problem arose as to how to place the ponytail
through the helmet and “ The Mane Tamer” was
invented to assist threading the ponytail through the
channel in the rear of the helmet.
Added benefits achieved;
Once this was accomplished, the first ride took place.
The response was TREMENDOUS!
During the first maiden ride the added benefits
were noted of the elimination of the itchy scalp and
hot spots. After the ride, the helmet was removed
the additional features of notably less tangles ,
the elimination of knots, and the convenience of
eliminating the need to re-style hair was achieved.
THUS, THE ELIMINATION OF HELMET HAIR WAS ACHIEVED
Additional accessories include:
Artifical tail ( for those without hair)
LED lighted outter fashion ring, improves visability on and off your bike.
Vented cap for those with short hair who want the benifits of the rear vents.
Beads or jewels on outter fashion ring
